The choice is between charter and scheduled. In many cases, advanced booking on a scheduled flight is around the same price as a charter flight. Scheduled flights do give you a wider range of airports, and if you are going to Florida, you can't get a chartered flight to Tampa. The cost of the flight is likely to be the biggest cost variable. Sometimes, holiday packages are advertised at prices the same, or less than, the cost of the flight. If you are very careful with the pennies, and want to go along with the crowd, this is the cheapest way of getting a holiday in the States.
